Power of Attorney sale for elderly parent — nightmare process

26 March 2026 at 00:02Mum has dementia and we need to sell her house to fund care. I have Lasting Power of Attorney. Thought it would be relatively straightforward — it's not.
The buyer's solicitor wants: certified copies of the LPA, evidence of registration with OPG, proof I'm acting in Mum's best interests, a letter from her care home, and confirmation no other family members object.
It's been 4 months and we're still going back and forth with paperwork. Meanwhile the care home fees are £4,800/month and we're running through her savings.
Anyone been through this? How long did it actually take?
