Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to use HomeThink, whatever device or assistive technology they use. Buying or renting a home is a decision with real money attached, and a report you cannot read is a report you cannot act on.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have not had the site independently audited, so we describe this as what we are working towards rather than something we have proven.
2. What we have done
- Every page has a real
<main>landmark. - The signed-in app and the free calculator pages under
/toolseach have a “Skip to main content” link. - Interactive controls are keyboard reachable, with a visible focus ring.
- Colour is never the only way a flag, score or status is communicated — each carries a label as well.
- Text resizes with your browser settings, and layouts reflow rather than requiring horizontal scrolling.
- The site respects your operating system’s dark-mode preference.
- Reports can be printed, which gives a linear, high-contrast version of the whole page.
3. Where we know we fall short
Being specific here is more useful than a blanket claim:
- The “Skip to main content” link is missing from our marketing, pricing and legal pages — including this one. On those pages a keyboard or screen-reader user has to travel through the navigation before reaching the content. It is on the signed-in app and on the
/toolspages, and we are adding it to the rest. - We do not yet honour your operating system’s reduced-motion preference everywhere. Two animations on the home page begin playing before the page has worked out what you asked for, so they run once even when you have asked for no motion. The rest of the site respects the setting.
- The interactive maps convey location visually. Where a map is shown we also state the relevant facts in text, but the map itself is not usable without sight.
- Some charts and score meters are read out as their underlying numbers rather than as a described trend.
- We do not yet run an automated accessibility check on every release, so regressions can reach the site before we notice them.
4. Telling us about a problem
If something on HomeThink is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us at support@homethink.co.uk. Describe the page and what happened; you do not need to know the technical cause. We aim to reply within five working days, and we will tell you what we can fix and when.
If you need information from a report in a different format — plain text, large print, or read aloud — ask us and we will provide it.
5. Enforcement
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at equalityadvisoryservice.com.
