Check a home freeBefore you sign
Before you sign, find out where your deposit will be held. By law it must sit in a government-backed protection scheme within 30 days, and you should get the details in writing. No scheme, no protection.
Read the tenancy in full and note who pays for what. Check the notice period, any break clause, and whether the fees are allowed — most upfront charges were banned in 2019. A quick read now saves an argument later.
